Great at blowing the trumpet for businesses and other people, not so great at blowing my own. According to my mum. She’d know, right? Apparently, a personality trait kindly bestowed upon me by my dad. Lucky me. We all have our problems.

So, this is the bit where I’m meant to talk about how wonderful and accomplished I am at everything I do, and why you simply must hire me. Smacks of try-hard, doesn’t it? Instead, let’s roll with some facts about me, personally and professionally, you can make the informed decision from there.

• Writing is what I do, it’s what I know, and is quite possibly one of the only things I’m good at. I’m passionate about words and the power they have.
• I work well under pressure. Yes, I was the kid pulling an all-nighter before an assignment was due. Don’t judge, it worked for me.
• I am as comfortable in a boardroom pitching a crisis communication strategy as I am on the beach trying to coordinate a media photo opp with two sumo wrestlers. Yes, both true stories. What I’m trying to say here is that I love all aspects of what I do, from the serious corporate communication to the PR ‘fluff’. Variety is the spice of life!
• Developing an event from an initial brainstorm through to execution and evaluation fills me with a wonderful sense of accomplishment of the warm and fuzzy kind.
• Cool, calm and collected in the eye of a storm. A former boss once described me as a graceful swan during a time of crisis, calm and composed above the water, while underneath paddling for dear life. When the proverbial hits the fan for you or your business, trust me, you want a swan in your corner.
• I love the little jobs every bit as much as the large ones. Writing a newsletter, drafting some social media posts or website copy for a small business or sole trader to help them out and free up their time makes me feel good.
• Keyboard warriors amuse me. Seriously, they need to get a life. I have over a decade of experience in dealing with prickly personalities, both online and in person. Managing international social media accounts and hosting community meetings with irate people is a real baptism of fire. Diplomacy is my middle name.

• Holder of IAP2 certification for public engagement
• Experienced in all things crisis – development of crisis comms plans, key messages, media training
• Social media – strategy development, content calendars, content sourcing, tone-of-voice development
• Experienced in small- and large-scale events and launches, from concept development through to execution and evaluation
• Copwriting in all its forms – websites, newsletters, brochures through to corporate annual reports and award submissions

After 13+ years working in the corporate world, COVID-19 forced me to take a new direction. It was the shove that I needed. I love engaging with a variety of businesses, from sole traders to larger corporate organisations, to help them achieve their desired outcomes.
